Outreach
I lead and co-organize a citizen science project called the Female Bird Song Project. The goal of this project is to engage and educate wildlife enthusiasts about female bird song and behavior. Our aim is to increase information on female bird song and ensure accurate collection of sex-specific data for biological collections. This project was spurred by our research showing that female song is more widespread than previously thought and subsequent research showing that we only know about female song in about 25% of songbird species. There is still a lot to discover! Please visit the Female Bird Song Project website to learn how to participate!
Community outreach for K-12 children
I organize and lead outreach activities for K-12 children at my field site in Puerto Rico, including bird banding and wildlife monitoring with local Boy and Girl Scout troops and children’s day camps to introduce them to research and wildlife in their community.
